Monday July 9th
Day 1:
Today was my first day of summer class at the humanities building on the LIU campus. We started out by learning about what it is to be a journalist and all the opportunities that can come along. Our first assignment was to interview a classmate and write a profile on them. It was a very cool experience as it was my first ever thorough interview with someone I have never met before. I learned a lot of my partner through talking to her and a friend, which definitely helped in my writing of the profile. Later on in the day, we got a very interesting lecture of photojournalism from a professional photographer who definitely taught me about the importance of making clear and thorough images to use for stories. After class I finally realized how big the campus actually was. From about 3-6 o'clock I walked all around including getting lost on the way to the library and to Riggs park and going back and forth from the dorms to the hillside community center a couple times.
